Composer and pianist Marika Takeuchi, a native of Japan, began studies in classical music at the age of three. She studied composition at Shobi Music College in Tokyo, and her early career includes composing for Japanese national radio, Universal Music Japan, and additional music to a major TV series. In 2009, she moved to United States to study film scoring at Berklee College of Music. She has scored numerous inspiring, independent short films, such as “The Arctic Light”, the acclaimed TSO Photography’s time-lapse film; a short film about a summer enrichment program “Horizons: 50 years”, and other award-winning shorts and advertisements including an Australian TV commercial.
